I am PSTC - Ann Brooks

In the world of human resources, where each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth, Ann Brooks stands out for her dedication and passion. With a decade-long tenure at Peach State Truck Centers as an HR Generalist, Ann's journey is a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Ann's career took a unique path, beginning with her stint at Unum Insurance Company, where she honed her administrative and IT skills while supporting C-suite executives. Despite her background as an English major with initial goal of becoming a middle school teacher, Ann found her calling in HR through hands-on experience and mentorship from Bill Garrett, Peach State's VP of HR.

"I like HR because I'm presented with problems and I like to solve them," Ann shared. Her problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to help others navigate complex issues make her a trusted ally for Peach State employees seeking guidance on insurance, benefits, and workplace concerns.

Transitioning from a temporary role to a full-time position, Ann embraced every opportunity for growth and learning. Under Bill's mentorship, she soaked up knowledge like a sponge, gaining insights into legal processes, employee relations, and organizational dynamics.

Peach State's commitment to fostering talent is evident through initiatives like the Accelerate Group, which identifies future leaders within the company. Ann's inclusion in this esteemed group speaks volumes about her potential and the value she brings to the organization.

As a member of the Accelerate Group, Ann is excited about the chance to expand her horizons through job shadowing, leadership development programs, and immersive experiences like visiting the renowned Ron Clark Academy.

"I never saw myself in management before, but I take every opportunity, and now I can see myself doing this and taking it where I want it to go," she says, highlighting the transformative power of mentorship and self-discovery.

Beyond her work life, Ann finds joy in her hobbies, from cheering on the New Orleans Saints to working on counted cross-stitch and adding to her collection of nearly 300 vinyl records. Despite her busy schedule, she prioritizes work-life balance, nurturing her passions and fostering connections within and outside the workplace.

Looking ahead, Ann envisions a future where Peach State continues to evolve, prioritizing employee autonomy, accessibility, and well-being. Collaborating closely with colleagues like Bryan Bryson, Peach State's Manager of Loss Prevention, she strives to create a culture of safety, respect, and innovation.

In Ann Brooks, Peach State Truck Centers has found not just an HR Generalist, but a leader dedicated to driving positive change and empowering others to thrive.
