Front Counter Parts Sales - Jefferson

I am PSTC - Scott Egan

Scott Egan—front counter parts salesperson at Peach State Truck Centers in Jefferson, Georgia—has a background in automotive, growing up working on engines with his dad and building engines with his brother. But this remained a hobby and Scott chose a career in construction early on, building pools. For the last 16 years he was in charge of consultations and building pools for customers, then he needed a fresh start.

Over a year ago Scott moved his life out to the Jefferson, GA area and looked for a work opportunity that involved less physical labor. “I loved building pools, but it does take a toll on you,” Scott explained. Then he applied to work for Peach State as a parts picker through a temp agency, and his new career took off. Leadership was impressed with his parts knowledge and how he operated well without receiving the full training yet, so they moved him to the will call counter to use his skills more.

At the will call counter, Scott took every opportunity to help customers. He said, “I wouldn’t always just pull the part they ordered. Once I saw the order and talked to them, they often needed additional parts to complete a job or even a new seat for their truck. I love building that relationship and knowing I helped get them back on the road faster.”

Leadership noticed his success in will call, so when a front counter parts sales position opened, he was top pick for the job. He was offered the position with a 30-day trial period, and he passed with flying colors. Doing parts sales is the perfect job for Scott because it combines everything he has experience with from working on engines to selling and consulting for the pool business. He has a very low parts return rate because he strives to communicate thoroughly and get the customers what they truly need.

“It’s so great. Now I get to help people, make a positive difference in their life, and do it all in a climate-controlled environment with less back pain,” expressed Scott, who has been with Peach State since 2022. “I love that I can build meaningful connections and it brings me joy to see my customers when they come by. This job is very fulfilling.”

Scott will even help customers find parts elsewhere if we do not have them—he goes to great lengths to find parts. He says it is not about making money, it is about doing the right thing for our customers and making sure they get what they need, and leadership supports that.

He enjoys working for Peach State because they are a strong team that works together well. Everyone is collaborative, helpful, and trustworthy which is invaluable. He does a great job, but knows he still has a lot to learn about semi-trucks as they have a lot more parts than an automobile. He is up for the challenge and ready to grow with the company.

In his free time, he tries to help others with odd jobs around their home or with their cars. He says there were times he needed someone to lend a hand to him and now that he is doing well in life, he wants to give back to those around him.
